On the surface, blackjack seems so simple. If you are going to play one table game, there is a good chance that this will be the one.


Not only does it look simple, but this is the case once you begin to delve into the finer details. The fact of the matter is that blackjack is the most popular table game, and this is the case for a few very good reasons. But before you can become a great blackjack player, you need to realize that there is more to this game than getting 21. Sure, this is your main goal, but the way that you get there and the strategy that you use is very important and will determine how quick you pick up steam.

To be a great blackjack player you need several things on your side. First off, you need to know the rules; and this goes beyond the fact that you need to get closer to 21 than the dealer. Do you know when the dealer will hit and stand? Do you know how much money you can win with the different types of bets? It does not take a long time to learn the rules of blackjack, and you need to do so before anything else. It only makes sense to learn the finer workings of the game before beginning to play.

The best blackjack players have the patience to play for a long time without getting worked up. When it comes down to it, there is only so much you can do to better your situation. Sure, you can learn the rules and have a great strategy, but in many cases this will only get you so far. Luck has a lot to do with the cards that you draw, as well as the ones that end up in the dealer’s hand.

Finally, if you really want to succeed, you better know what you are doing with your money. This includes the money that you use to place bets, and hopefully any money that you win while playing.
