D'Alembert System

This will be the start of a series of systems that I will lay out for you. Knowing the system will not help you, unless you follow all of the rules of money management that will be explained to you, such as charting, setting Win Goals and Loss Limits, etc.

You must have a controlled way of playing. After you have digested all of these methods, pick the one that best suits you, master it and then put it to use.

The first system is called The D'Alembert. in my first book on Roulette it was explained in simple terms and in detail. So instead of changing the explanation, I am merely going to reprint the entire system as it appeared in that book. It's a snaperoo to pick up.

Many chapters ago I told you that people have been trying and inventing systems at roulette for many years. A lot of these systems work for periods of time and succeed in holding down that ever present vig. The whole key of course, is that when you get ahead you must quit.

These systems that are tried, invariably contain a form of Martingale Theory, whereby you constantly double your previous bet until you win a hand and recoup all of the previous losses. I've already denounced this type of betting mainly because of the short bankrolls of most players. One medium sized losing streak destroys them.

There are other systems that have merit. I'd like to place a couple out there for you and have you master the one which appeals to you the most. I hate it when I read about systems that are placed in print by some writer who explains the entire method of play and then tells you you're crazy to bet the game because you're going to lose anyhow.

I agree, it is tough to win gigantic sums of money at casino games. But it is possible to grind out small wins using the Big Four.

This system, called the D'Alembert, wasn't invented by a man named Smith. Hence, that is where it received it's name. It has been used in various forms and especially at the roulette tables in Europe for many years.
