When you have 10 or 11

Here we go with the first shot at making the previous decision on 10s and I is, a prehistoric mistake. You have to approach my theory with an open mind and not a mathematical assumption, based on four billion runs on a computer. I wanna know what is the best move for me (you), in the fraction of an instant that these situations arise.

Here you are, facing a dealer's power card of 9 through Ace and you have a 10 as your ammunition. whether you know it or not, that is like sweeping up the sand on a beach with a hair brush. Let's look at the possibilities you have if you double, which the other basic strategy calls for. Here is what happens for each card you could draw as your single attachment to that 10:

* 2 3 4 5 6, you have garbage.
* 7 gives you 17 and either a tie at best or a loss if dealer gets 18 or better, so it is a losing hand.

8 gives you 18, which, as we know, is less than an average winning hand.

OK, 7 of the possible 13 cards leave you with extra money invested and 7 hands that can best be described as futile to terrible. Let's continue.

9 through Ace gives you an excellent total of 19 through 21.

From my limited knowledge, I come up with less than 50 percent of the possible cards giving you less than an average winning hand. Why oh why would someone double a 10, have less than a 50 50 chance of getting a solid hand, and then be at the mercy of that dealer turning over a down card, to match with the powerful up card?

Let's see what that down card could convert to and I'll make the dealer’s up card a Queen, a pretty powerfull Opponent, I'm sure you will agree:

2 3 4 5 6, she has garbage, but wait, the dealer does not have to stick with that weak total (as we do). She can take a hit with the possibility of improving that breaking hand and one out of five times (20 percent), she will get to a standing hand.
7 gives her a lousy 17, but, which will nullify your 17 and destroy your 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16.
8 gives her a semi weak 18, but still strong enough to destroy your 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and nullify your 19.
9 through Ace gives her an excellent 19 through 21 and matches your potential 19 through 21.
